The flagship event of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) was held on Thursday 20 June 2024 in London. An event that contributes to the development of the Quality Professionals as well as celebrate the successes of many talent through its International Quality Awards.
Nearly 400 people gathered in one space to learn and discuss the role we play in artificial intelligence, sustainability, culture of organisations, and the human importance and development of skills for our workforce.
Here are my takeaways:
Culture does not happen by chance nor is it a one time exercise. Acculturation is a thing, and we have to be aware of the collective culture of an organisation. It drives people’s behaviours and that gives us great insights into how we approach and build our work.
Artifical Intelligence is everyone’s business. It is here to stay and understanding one it is is one thing. Quality Professionals need to ensure they understand its capability, how it can be utilised, its limitations and the areas of it could bring efficiencies to.
Skills are a focus for all of us regardless of where we are in our career. Quality Professionals are the Business Partners who can provide insights to the organisation so it can make confirm decisions. I now really hate the term ‘top management’ use in ISO standards because it creates a divide, them vs us. I would hope it gets changed to leadership. We are part of the leadership team especially as we we continuously assess how the business is operating and the successful ecosystem that is being used by an entire org team.
Sustainability, whether environmental or social, is also everyone’s business. We can a lot more to work with our supply chain. We don’t need to start big. If we are unsure how to start, working with our supply chain on baby steps on incremental basis will slowly start to make a difference.
Once the videos from the sessions I did not attend get published on the learning hub, I intend to share more insights on here. For now, here are photos from the day. The feelings, the emotions, the excitement, the buzz, the learning, the networking, the growth, the connections, the celebrations, are all synonyms of this one badge, one event! I hope to see you all next year.
Until then, what are your takeaways?
